I don't think you have room for more.
In fact, I predict you will lose 1 or both watchman goby and a few chromis. Sorry to burst your bubble but it has high probability.

15 is done. You can add more fish to the 40 but not much

The 15g is done for sure.

In the 40g, the 4 chromis will keep off 1-3 of their own. If some do live they will get very big and the bigger they get, the meaner they are.
I don't know any other fish you can keep in a small tank. You've already have them.
You have to remember, the tank might look spacious now but the fish do grow and it will get crowded.

Was planning on getting a yellow tang and a blue tang for the 40g

Either of those tangs will get to big for the tank so you will have to move them out eventually.

Invert wise I would suggest a crab of some kind. Not hermits but perhaps a box crab or a procelian crab.

How fast do they grow. Found some really small ones at cp. they about 1-1.5"

Honestly just don't do it. It's not worth the trouble of having to watch it brow and then either having to spend money to upgrade or having to take it back to the lfs or one that will be willing to take a grown tang.

Yellow tangs as an example grow about 2" a year this all depends on environment. I bought a 1.5" (by accident) about 6-8 months ago and in my system he is about 3" or so. I would guess in a 40 he will outgrow it in about a year or so.

I wouldnt keep a fish that is bigger than 4" in a tank that small.

Off topic darbex and mods can delete this if they want. Think a 36x36x18 is to small for the smaller tangs? Just been trying to get opinions on the matter
