  • New Pond

I went to home depot and bought a pump, and a preformed pond. I then placed it in and filled it up with water. while it filled up with water i set up the pump. When it finished filling i tested it out. It worked well. I then started to build a water falll for it. I made 1 design then decided to make a better design so I can see the water drop. I recycled the extra tiles from when we got new tiles and covered them with rocks. Now i have a great looking pond. But to make it better I placed flat rock over the liner so you cant see it. Planted some plants around the pond to make it look better. I Bought plants today to be put in. I will buy some feeder fish next weekend to make sure it all cycles.

I am no expert on ponds, but it seems to me that future cleaning and maintenence will be easier if there were no rocks on the bottom of the pond...

Maybe some more experienced pond owners will chime in later and share their opinions.....

If you would like gravel then yes. But alot of fish waster would accumilate between the gravel so it would be good to put some jungle val on the bottom to use up the fish waste. What do you plan on stocking it with? Have you come up with an idea for a filter yet?

gravel? sure if you like to clean up nasty muck every week.

pot the plants and put in a good filter or DIY something to remove the solids.

be warned, there is a lot of muck that gets stuck down there. when you lift them up, all you will get is a hit of sulphur from the gas and mum floating around.

suggest that you put a hi capacity pump down at the bottom to move the debris to your filter.
