I have tons of these snails in my tanks. I hardly see them during the day, they don't bother me but in the morning when the lights come on I have the urge to net them out.

No not yet. I have zero MTS in the tanks these guys are in. Thai and I put some in a bowl with MTS and nothing..... Didn't even attack them.

It does, at first. But if you look closer, the spiral is a bit more elongated, and there are extension-like things on the shell, and ribbing, making it seem not as smooth as a pond snail.

Jim, those are weird. And you say you have these in multiple tanks?

Edit: What does the body look like? What color?

              i have seen these myself.

their shell shape looks like that of an assassin, but it doesnt match in color at all, also, the shell has tiny spikes all around each rim of the shell.
              they look cool.

im with mark, call it a new assassin and then call it a day

No matter what, save some live ones for me if you're disposing of them. I am going to figure out what they are.

if I remember, I can give you some from my tank MB.

I took some from Jim to see what they would do to my MTS.

Needless to say, they are not assassin snails and the MTS population on that tank has not changed.

They do look kind of cool.

MB, when they are in the tank they are lighter in color with speckles all the way around the shell. I have a big one that comes out once in awhile, almost 3/4 of an inch long. You can have as many as you like they breed like roaches.

                      Awesome, thanks Jim and Thai!

Are they in your troph/petro tanks? How many tanks are they in?

You've really piqued my interest here. I've been searching for about an hour for these guys to try to ID them, LOL.

Yeah they are in my tropheus tanks (2) and the fry grow out tank. If I see one I can reach, I catch it and throw it in the fry tank. I have rare snails LOL!

Do you know if they lay eggs or are livebearers?

I could never tell but I don't see agg spots any where on my glass or rocks.

But maybe Jim can confirm b/c he has a lot more than me.

Definitely live bearers. There are a bunch of tiny tiny ones with complete shells. I have never seen eggs on the glass or rocks.
