  • Shrimp species compatibility?

Hi, I got several Amano shrimp yesterday and they are eating algae like crazy, and looking good. My initial intent had been to put cherry shrimp in this 20g tank. I would still like to stock it with cherries later, once the plants (and algae ) have settled.

So...will Amanos and cherries get along or will they fight, with the little cherries likely the losers? Anybody have experience with this?

    Thanks!
    My fish have Names.

I haven't put them together, but I know others who have. They will do fine together. The Amanos won't mess with them.

The main concern is making sure your red cherry shrimp (RCS) don't get sucked into the intake of your filtration. The fish in the tank may also eat the RCS, especially the tiny babies. Make sure there are a lot of hiding places, and the RCS should be fine even if some do get sucked up or eaten.

      Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.
