started working on a simple schematic for a wet/dry system for my upcoming tropheus tank this will be on a 75g aquarium utilizing a 20g for the filter. any suggestions as i have never done anything like this before.

do i even need the partitions or can i stack mechanical filtration above the bioballs before the drip tray

Looks good. It could be simpler. The 20gal a sq cat liter bucket hang perfect on the trim. Drill holes in the bottom. Stack with about 9-10 packs of pot scrubbers from General dollar. Cut out the bottom of another sq bucket and drill holes for a drip tray. A hole in lid and a 1" slip bulk head to accept drain.. Home made pvc over flow and you are good to go. This w/d will handle a 150gal easy. The foam is not needed IMO. Good luck.

i would extend the area for bio media all the way to the tallest baffle.that way you get more area for media and only have to put in one piece instead of two. looks good so far.
