What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? I've seen people use packing peanuts. Anything you can put in there that will have surface area and not clog and is safe for aquatics is going to work nicely.

This stuff is real cheap, and I use it alot in my canisters.

This stuff comes in 1-gallon bales that you can buy at just about every online retailer for $6-8 per bag.

A typical wetdry would take 2-3 bales of it.

Shake it all around. Basically you want to create a rough sandpaper type surface on the pvc so you have larger surface area for bacteria to colonize.
