  • Tank Make Overs - your Opinions plz.

I am thinking of doing a lot of re-arranging and wanted some feedback.

    New Proposed Setups:

    300 Gallon - Trewavasae (18), Red Cheeks (25), Katoto (10)
    Filtration - (2) FX5's, EH-2229, and (2) MaxJet Mods

    180 Gallon - Duboisi (30), Rutunga (30)
    Filtration - EH-2262, EH-2260, and (1) Koralia 4

    180 Gallon - Annectens (26), Lunangwa (9)
    Filtration - EH-2262, EH-2260, and (1) MaxJet Mod

    150 Gallon - Ujiji (27)
    Filtration - EH-2262, EH-2028, and (1) Koralia 4

    150 Gallon - Ikola (38)
    Filtration - FX5, EH-2028, and (1) MaxJet Mod

I was thinking I might switch the Annectens/Lunangwa Combo with the Ikola because of the Number of Fish. But...the Annectens get much larger and it is a 2-combo setup, which needs larger tank.

    Opinions..comments?

    Thanks..

        Jonathan,
Work and the Holidays got the best of me for a while.

I was wanting to put some color in the 300, and in my opinion that best color combo would be Red Cheeks and Katoto. Reds and Yellows and no worry about interbreeding.

The Annectens would be nice in there too, but they are a safe combo with just about anything as long as it is not black/white and strong banded.

Yes, all my tanks are inside my apartment. I have more in gallons than I do in square foot.

But...I'm not in troph anymore so what do I know

But you have more then enough room for 2 large troph colonies in the 300

            Derek,

The Trews are too dominant for me to make that move. I wanted to keep the Ikola seperated for a baby factory. The others if they breed or not, is not so important to me.

            Why has your fancy now?

I'm getting there also.I have a 150 and 125 that I am plumbing inside. 2 X 200 gallon tubs for T breeding and 4 X 30gallon for fry tanks. I am plumbing all of it right now , then will start bringing everything over soon.

I have wet dry's for them, but it doesn't fit in the 150 stand, so I have to improvise.

I'm trying to be like you Goeff,... but that gonna take alot more time and money...

                Jesper's Idea

                Geoff...
What happened to the 115 ? New grow out tank ?
Here is how I would do it

                300 Gallon - Duboisi (30), Annectens (26), Red Cheeks (25), Katoto (sunspot) (10)
180 Gallon - Rutunga (sp. black red saddle) (30), Lunangwa (9)
180 Gallon - Ikola (38) -- this will allow a baby factory to exist here
                150 Gallon - Ujiji (27) -- same as above
                150 Gallon - Trewavasae (18)

Which ones did you want to breed and which ones dont you care about ?
                What you think ?

I would not want to Mix Red Cheeks with Annectens. Both have too close of heavy bands.

Lunangwa and Sp.Black Runtunga will not work.

The 18 Trewavasae are too big for a 150 gallon.

The 115 is sold, and I need to be able to put a twin bed in the fish room by summertime.

Well in that case I would have to agree with EK, and your explaination regarding the Red Cheeks and Annectens. I just figure there is so many other differences that there would not be interbreeding going on there.
I just figure that you are putting over 60 fish in a 180, but with 57 fish in the 300 that tank is still going to look empty, while the 180 will look like a sardine can just opened :)
