Ike Kill me....

This is my first Hurricane season with my Tropheus. I start get in with tropheus since the beginning of this year. Before the ike i have 82 live and happy woderful tropheus (Bemba, Duboisi, Kaiser, Mpulungu, Kachese). The pass saturday, i loss 73 of them... :( .... Gosh it's hurts!!!!!!!!!! don't know anyone of you guys had ever felt like this b4 but i have no words to express this sorry feeling.. I had loss lots of money and time put into those happy fish.. But i can't live with out them.. I want to start up again but right now don't have much to start up again .. so i'm asking for help. Any 1 that have fry for sale PLEASE let me know ??? I looking at least 3 or 4 colonies..

How did the fish die, you live in clearlake did they get damaged somehow?

Really does not matter, but if you need help with what you got left, I have 6 12V powerheads with batteries, and 2-150W powerinverters that will power 6-8 tanks worth of filters and powerheads that will run off your car cigarette lighter.

AS for fry I have Red Cheeks, Annectens, and Duboisi fry at this time.

When all this settles, give me a shout.

I have never lost a entire colony before, but one time I did a very stupid thing and cycled a tank because of MTS snails, and lost about 50% of my fish in one tank about 30 fish and babies dead.

I know how it feels..

Thanks guys! I'm glad to have people like you guys whom really know how i feel toward my losses..
Geoff, clear Lake was not damaged that bad, it's just i was worries about the no power for my elders parents. I didn't think they could take the heat and at the same time I didn't want to leave my tropheus behind ether. So it took me 3 hrs to round all my fish up and headed to Dallas. It's took me about 6 hours to get to Dallas and by the time I got there I already loss some of my tropheus.. :( By the way I have 4 large coolers and each have that buble air pump that I got it at walmart. I really didn't know what cause the losses but looking back the ride was king of rough and the condition of the water, i guess.
As soon as I got there, I did a water change for all 4 coolers and the next morning as I took a look at those coolers, I can't believed what has happens, all were floating..:(
The feeling SUX !!! Can't do anything. Well, anyway I'm still in Dallas b/c my house still haven't got electric yet..
I have about 10 tropheus left and i did a water change every 8 hrs. It's seem they are find now, I hope they will be ok to get all the way home...

Travis....I am impressed that you took the measures you did to try and save your fish.  We have some fry as well...I'm sure not as many as others here, but feel free to contact us after the dust settles.

Just a tip for everyone, when I move my fish and it is longer than an hour or two, I always individual bag each adult fish, and possible 2 juvi's per bag, with a bag buddy tablet.

I have not had problems when I did that.

I know it dont mean nothing now, but something to think about in the future.

I know someone who had his tropheus in a 55g barrel overnight..   with an airpump... none of his made it.  He had tanks ready the next morning to put the fish in.  They where all dead within 12 hours in that barrel.  I am thinking in all honesty Tropheus just need so much O2 that if they are in a confined space something happens when they are stressed that this will kill them off quick.  Something that does not occur in bags...  who knows.  I am not an expert.
