  • Crayfish Miscarriage?

Hey guys, Gumbo, my largest crayfish was berried a few days ago and I noticed a string of orange poo coming from under her. Then slowly her eggs began falling off and eventually are all gone. What could have caused this? I thought she looked about time to molt however she hasn't. I feel awful that she lost all of her eggs!

I checked the chemicals religiously and nothings wrong with them. The tank recently finished cycling itself a week ago. Other then that I don't know what happened. Anyone else had this happen or heard of it?

Could be they had some sort of fungus, or perhaps they weren't fertile.

I've had that happen a coupla times.  If they trun white, chances are that they were not fertilized in the first place. Sometimes they fungus and the female eats them.

They were brown, I don't know about fungus...but she had just been moved to soft water compared to the hard water here.

        *shrug*

She's been growing like crazy! Two her offspring are really light blue, almost white. Pretty neat!
