  • Question about mixing small trophs with large trophs

Ok...yall know I been on my dub kick for a while. Well it seem that I will not find a large colony of 2 to 3 inch dub for a fair price. So would it be ok to drop in about 50 to 60 1 to 2 inch dubs (still have spots) in my current setup?

I am sure that some will be eaten, but honestly I really doubt it.  You have large rock formations that the dubs can run in and out of.  If you wanted a higher success rate get a temp tank up and running for a couple of months and let them grow out until they are all over 2"  Then take the tank down..  You can install say a 75 somewhere in your living room right ?

D....I have about 18 dubs, of various ages', to me they seem to get along just fine. I had one die about 7 weeks ago, but I'm not sure what it was that he died from.

STEVE....I have monsters in my tank...5 inches or bigger

Zulaab, if I can get my hands on a 2260 I might set up a temp tank. A 90 would be great..but a 92 hexagon would be better lol...

Also, I may need you to come over soon..i'm going to redo my aqua scape and I need HELP!

They should be ok.....in some cases.

Make sure they are fed well and maybe run the tanks a little cooler.

              Derek,

As long as the fry are over 1.5" or so, I have never had a problem with monster 5" guys trying to eat them.

I have had them chase them all over the place, but not to eat them.  Usually its the monster 5" chasing them from its territory and then gets tired of the chase.

Not trying to make fish taco out of them.

I just put 2 in Illangi fry in with the 5 inch WC Red Rainbows outside in the pond for a few weeks now. It doesn't seem that the fry are bothered by the adults that much. THey even roam around next to the adults with no probs.

Won't be sure how many are left after the summer, but I did count them when I put them in. Definately 25 fry and 15 Adults.

Will let you know in November how many come out

I have tiny babies in all of my tanks

As long as you guide them to the rock piles the adults won't think they are bait/food.....when I put the tanganicodus in my tank the Ulwiles thought it was feeding time......I accidentally sucked up a fry while doing water changes and what I did was put it in a net and worked it to the rockpile for release and the adults didn't care to look.
