  • Plexiglass top restricting open air to the tank. bad idea?

Maybe someone can move this to a n00b forum. I'm trying to ask about air circulation and mold issues.

I made a top like this for my cichlid tank (with UG filter), and I developed a bad mold problem. Since it's UG, i don't have any cutouts for hoses, so there is basically no air entering from the top of the tank. However, this tank has a canister filter so i had to cut out notches for the hoses.

Once I have the 2 doors on, the only air circulation will be from the gaps around the filter hoses.

I want to minimize the moisture going up into the canopy to prevent damage to the wood.

Does anyone see any problems with this?

... i still need to decide where to cut holes for the heater and co2 lines....
Working...
