  • 300 gallon tank & occupants

    Hey, Gang.

Here are a couple of pics of the tank that Geoff and I went to Dallas to pick up. The tank does have quite a few scratches that I hope I can fix down the road. But I was mainly drawn to the canopy and stand. The tank is 10 feet X 2 feet X 2 feet.
There are 16 wild caught Tembwe's, 10 clown loaches, 2 plecos and 5 fish that came with the tank. Those five are 4 Myersi and 1 redtail catfish. I don't know how long I will keep those five. Only time will tell.

I love the dimensions. the 8x2x31 is too tall.. but 10 feet long is impressive!

      thanks. :)
You are correct. The 31 inches is very difficult to work with. The 24 inches is much easier. But I think I enjoy the looks of the 31 inch tall better.

very nice!  I bought a 10 foot glass tank awhile back, but it was only 18" high and 18" deep.  Mike, the former owner of Village Tropical used to own it and kept discus in it.  I kept it about 3 years then sold it.  What impressed me the most about that tank was the length.

The 2 foot height and width of your tank is perfect.  You can reach down into the tank and touch the bottom.  You can buff scratches out of acrylic.

When the tank was full back in Dallas, did you see any noticeable bowing?  I know the clarity of acrylic tanks is outstanding.

        Congrats on your new purchase!!!!!!!

thanks, Ron. No, I didn't see any signs of bowing and I don't now. But acrylic tanks are designed to bow a little. Not much, but a little. Well, that is what Alex told me. :) The 300 that I bought from Deerhunter has a slight bow. He bought it from Ultimate Fish. Geoff now owns that tank. I really do hope those acrylic kits work. I'm just worried about making it worst than it already is. Worst case, I'll buy a new 10' X 2' down the road. The canopy and stand will last forever. :)

Now the red tail cat fish.. you should keep him forever..         the moba's will disappear when he eats them.. but then again a 2ft+ long fish in your tank with a mouth opening bigger than your hand would be awesome...

Opps you may want to think of a place to get rid of it before it reaches full size :)  If you dont believe me please stop by Mike's store and ask to see his monster red tail catfish in his plastic tub :)

                      thanks, J-WS6.

I'm sorry to hear that ek. LOL!

Zulaab, it will be a long while 'til the redtail catfish can eat the fronts. You can't see in the picture, but these fish are not small. They are adults.

I've had these catfish before and that is why I'm not sure how long I will keep it. They do get very big and fish do start to disappear. If he eats one clown loach, he is gone.

Dang, that tank makes your adult fonts like like juvi's. It is a clean and peaceful tank too. The stand and top are simply.....Beautiful.

                            Looks very tranquil, congrats.

I look forward to seeing how Geoff does with his new tank, mine will be a while, I have to organize it's setup and placement, I'm not rushing this setup as I have done with others in the past.
