  • tank overstocked

    i have a 55g with :

    2  Frontosa Mpimbwe 3"
    1  A. Compresicep    3"
    3  A. Calvus             3",2",1"
    1  1.  Julie. Trans.     3"
    3  N.Brichardi           1-2"
2  N.Brevis               2", 1" pair (i'm expecting them to breed soon although the calvuses are already stalking them for fry)  :?
    2  Plecos                  2"

Is my Tank overstocked ? or can i still add more fish in ?
I've been thinking of upgrading to a bigger tank 100-135g maybe,
continue the Tanganyikan set up i currently have and add a couple more frontosa to form a small colony.
    Any suggestion guys ?

    Re: tank overstocked

I don't think your tank is overstocked currently... but I would think about finding a  different place for your fronts. Personally, I would use the 125-135 as a front tank, and leave the 55 for Julies, Calvus/Comps, Brichardi, and shellies.  With three Brichardi, it is quite possible you'll end up with more. The brevis pair are definately capable of upping their numbers. With that said, I wouldn't buy any more fish.  (Unless you want to get a couple petricola from me!) The number you have sounds good to me.

YUP... 4 left! I'm content to keep them, now that I have moved... but I really need to get the number of tanks that I have down to a "reasonable"  number.

see Arm, the idea of not buying anymore fish is kinda hard if not impossible. I think most of us in this forum knows how it is.

i'll have to remove the brichardi if they ever start breeding ... can't afford to have brichadis pairing up, they're a pain in a community tank... I cant wait to see the Brevis breed though, the female's belly gets pretty big for some reason and they been sharing shell lately.

I agree with Arm, you might want to move the fronts eventually. What kind of plecos? If they're commons, might need to move them, too.

But yeah, that setup looks great!!
