Yeah...I love them...got a couple in each of two tanks.

S'posedly they like cooler water, but mine seem to be jsut fine in normal temps...

Re: Bought myself a Hillstream Loach

Yeah i checked out the Franksaquarium website, they have different varietys aswell. I paid $7 for the one I have, he had 2 more there but im sure any fish store could order them in for you. Better than buying online.

I checked the water requirements before i put him in the tank, they prefer water around 72- 76, but people have them in theyre 80-82 tanks with no problems.

He is pretty active, he has caves in the quarantine tank but prefers to stick to the glass.

                    :( He Died.

I dont know why. I only just found his body, I thought he was hiding.

He seemed happy and active since i got him, no change in temp, nothing in there to bully/attack him but about a hundred snails. The filter has been set up for 1 year+, i fed him algae wafers so he didnt starve....

I dont know...I guess stress got him.

Re: Bought myself a Hillstream Loach

My pair downstairs are in at 74'F

                          Upstairs they are at 72'F

I was warned this was too hot. I was told that it was a good thing to have strong circulation and well oxygenated water (although I thought the two went hand-in-hand).

They are supposed to have a very strong current at the lower section of the tank.

I found this writeup and am thinking about setting up a tank similarly.

I haven't decided which tank to use for it yet though.  I'm really thinking my 45 breeder (36x18x16h),a 20L, or the 30L (48x12x12h).  Wish I had another 40 breeder - I like that size, not too deep and large bottom surface area.

I'd planned for zebra plecos in a 20L, but may change my mind (aren't we women supposed to do that???)
