  • the bill

This old man sat down at a table in a resturant that had not been cleared for a minute and the waiter brought him a bill. He handed it to the cashier with this written on the back: IO04I80.

It may be clever but it is an old joke. I was just lucky to remember it.

This reminds me of the "new language" that has developed for text messaging.

I sometimes have to call my daughter just to get the translation of the message she sent - I wish she would just call to begin with.  I even found a website that has a text messaging dictionary and online translator for those of us needing extra help.  I think it is fascinating to consider how quickly language can adapt to new forces in our culture - sociological, industrial, or technological.
