The Angels are in the tank. It is a little bair. Some plastic plants and a light is most needed now. The angels never had substrate. so they wont miss it but some PP to brake the line of site.
Kristen Hope you enjoy the angels. the only thing we want in return. Is for you to get better.

Hi!!! Can you give me a call? I have the tank up, the heater and filter are in, and angel fish are on the beltway right now on their way here. I would LOVE to get some substrate in for these poor guys who are going to be hanging in a glass house if we don't! :) Are you available today? This afternoon? This evening? Tonight even? I am up pretty late because I sleep a lot during the day. I am up till 12 at least. lolOriginally posted by Ballinxalex View PostI got substrate I had already contacted with her

+1. I have been watching this thread, it definitely touches my heart. It just confirms my belief that Boxers are the best people in Houston. Thank you all. I wish I had something to give that Kristen would want, but since we run mostly nanos I haven't been able to come up with anything! But it's made me so happy to see this outpouring of help for her...you all are such great people!!Originally posted by not1min View PostTo all of you guys that made this possible for Kristin. I do not know her but I want to thank all of you for donating all that was needed to get her started. I know that she appreciated what you all did and you all made her day. It was SOOO nice to meet you too!! I have to say that my friends and I were just so impressed with you and your fiance. You ABSOLUTELY have brought back a sense of pride in the current younger generation for me. (for them as well) I have just had QUITE a few bad experience with teens and young adults your age and it's made me super sad. Seeing you two, how KIND you both were and how concerned you were for MY health and happiness (donating the filter and your time aside) made me realize that there ARE still some really good "kids" out there. lol Not that you are a kid, but boy, 37 (almost 38) sure feels old when you have (barely) 20 somethings in your living room!! :)
Thank you for being so kind, generous and genuinely concerned!! Those qualities will get you FAR in life!! :)
I can't WAIT until the night of the dinner! We are all just going to have a blast!

I believe someone is donating some fish tomorrow. All she really needs is substrate, decor, and fish.

Hi Steve!!
The heater and filter didn't make it this evening. Zach got caught up with family and wasn't able to come over. He said he will be here at 6pm tomorrow. (wed) when I am done with MD Anderson. :)
To answer the question about what else is needed, black or dark substrate, drift wood, plants (nothing real please) chemicals, food, and lights.
Some of these things have been offered, but no one has made solid plans with me to get it here. So I am not QUITE sure where we stand.
I told Steve tonight that I am going to have everyone that contributed over to my home once the take is all complete, and make you all dinner! It's a small thing, but it's something that I am actually ABLE to do, and I think it would be fun to get together with a bunch of fish people and talk shop!! :) What do you all think about that??
if anyone needs me, you can text me at 832-353-0619 :)

We got the tank set up and filled with tap water/prime. I didn't add any water from my established tanks, but plan to take some water over later (Wednesday or Thursday). I left before the heater / filter was set up. I would recommend that fish be added slowly.

We are up in the area and would be happy to help, not sure what else is needed. I can offer help with some maintenance when I am onshore...

Kikki,
Your intentions are great, but I would recommend no Africans go in this tank based on what it's going to be stocked with. I breed venustus, and even in a 55G this will get decent sized and I think they will wreak havoc on angels and other South Americans. Best just to stay away from that, in my opinion.
Originally posted by Kikki View PostIf you would like cichlid fry they are right at 1". I have venustus and rustys right now. They would work with angels but not sure how long for the rustys they only get to 3 1/2 or 4 " but hold their own.

55gal I like very little substrate though. So your sand might be enough. I need to go through this thread and see who has gifted what. I am going to do that right now. Someone had said they had substrate but I don't know what kind it is and if it is already established. (is your sand established?) I would love a big piece of drift wood! Do you have pics of it and your rocks?? Thank you SO much!!! :)
