I buy a bottle of live pods from city pets once a month and put into the main tank at night when everyone is asleep, seems to be doing well.

purple up worked great on my ada tank...
are there good amounts of coraline algae on your live rock already?
if not, its not gonna see quick results...

I had a friend that used this and didn't see good results. I was thinking about using the same until he told me he had little success. Let us know if it eventually starts working for you.

+1. Best way to learn is to jump right in. I didn't know anything about sw untill I got this tank. Start slow. And remember when people or web sites give you advise it is for the best possiable scenario. Ther is always room for error.

    Perfect way to learn Thomas!

    Congrats on the new tank.

basically just watch the tip of the mantle, if the mantle is pinched...then it may be...

clam that under 3" is just really hard to survive...
not saying yours wont...just the rate are higher....also blue/purple variations seems to require more tense light than other color variations....
looks like you got another bigger one, seems to be a crocea?...how long did you add that one into the tank?
looks like it is still under a little stress, the mantle still seems a little pinched...but do pay more attention to the clams...if you see the sign of them with some pinched mantle...they may infect with PM...so do a fresh water dip asap...
also i hope you will get a MH or t5 for your tank in the future? that's just what your clam requires...
and maybe it is a good idea to dose calcium supplement for your tank too...clams suck up a lot of calcium...
i am new to clams too...but that's as far as i know that some things that need to be concern...hope it helps a little....and also, when comes to PM, crocea are a lot easier to infect, a lot of them do actually...maybe just in the early stage and we don't notice...
i have a almost 5" crocea too...i am also paying close attention about the Pinched Mantle. Maxima is the second easiest to get PM, others seems got a lot lower chance..
