I think an option for the history of religion should definitely be allowed in high schools. I love learning about all the different religions...i have found that a bunch if the religions are actually very similar.

I believe world religions should be a mandatory history class and much more important than knowing some of the other crap they teach. But I feel that they should put the discussion on how this nation was founded back in the history books when they teach US history. Instead they tried to diminish its roll and importance.

Nick, I mean this with the utmost respect and in the most literal sense. I do believe you are not anti-religion but you do come across as anti-Christianity some times. Now with that said, "Fairness" is a nice feel good word but what exactly do you mean by that? It seems like you are leaning more towards total equality. I find it completely unfair to deny Christianity the respect it deserves as the foundation for this great nation that offers you and everyone else that lives here freedoms you would not otherwise have were it not for the Founding Fathers and their Christian beliefs. None of the other religions you want treated with complete "fairness" played a part in the founding of this country. That does not mean other religions don't deserve respect, it just means that they did not play an equal part in the forming of this country and therefor are not equal in the history of the United States.

Does anyone else find it ironic that we are talking about public school education and the word "separate" is misspelled in the title of the thread?

I also find it ironic that in the name of "Diversity and Tolerance" people are so intolerant of the diversity provided by the inclusion in school curriculum of the principals that this country was founded on.

Oh no! Riots? Mass hysteria? or maybe if it's an elective it will just have low attendance. I don't hear of Jewish students bursting into flames or having prison yard style riots in the schools when Christmas or Easter holidays roll around.

    Get the point?
Except for Morman, I believe they all use the same Bible.

The error you are making nick is in mixing the Bible and Christianity with Churches and denomination. Teaching the Bible does not = Teaching religion
