I will say this. My roomate went to Memorial Herman Katy location and was on the operating table within 3 hours of walking in with what the surgeon said to his mom and I in the waiting room. "This is the largest gall stone I have ever removed, measuring 3.5 x 2.5cm in size, your son had to have been in intense pain"
I will be going there if I ever need to goto the ER.. it was empty when he went on a Monday morning.

thanks...they have me on iv and oxygen for now. They gave me some vicadon and tylenol...WOW!

I still have pain on my left side. allot! I have fluid in my left lung which is the reason for a cat scan in the morning. Can I borrow a betta for a couple of days ....damn my side is hurting right now from laughing.

In a nutshell the first ER which is part of St.Luke should have admitted me Saturday Evening. Everyone here was like they fugg up we will not!

FYI, D called me on the way to the hospital asking advice on which ER to go to. I've got a little experience with this from transporting every kind of patient to most every ER in the Houston metro area over the last six years with HFD.

People never think about this stuff until its too late. Most importantly, never hesitate to call 911 when you're not sure if the illness/injury is life-threatening.

If you're injured or ill, this is what I recommend:

1. If in a suburb like Sugar Land, Katy, or Spring, go to your nearest ER. Its far less likely to be clogged up like the ones in the city.

2. If you walk in, and see a bunch of people in the waiting room, get ready to join them - after all, you were able to walk in to the hospital, the people who were wheeled in on their backs are gonna get the beds first.

3. If the ER you go to is packed, and there is a "nicer" hospital near and you feel "stable" as in you don't think its "life or death" yet - then leave and try your luck elsewhere. Worst case scenario is that you wait the same amount of time at a nicer hospital.

4. Try not to ever go to the ER if you can go to a minor care emergency clinic. Its quicker and cheaper. If you go and the staff realizes you need more help than what they can offer, they'll call us to come get you.

5. These hospitals are almost always slammed with minor emergency patients who stack up in the waiting room: Ben-Taub, Memorial Herman Medical Center, MH Southwest, MH Northwest, St. Joseph's, L.B.J., West Houston.

6. I've noticed these hospitals (in the city) are usually the slowest, least packed with non-emergency patients: St Luke's Medical Center, Methodist Medical Center, & Memorial Herman Memorial City.

7. DON'T take your kid to Texas Children's Hospital unless they are REALLY ill/injured. 6 million people in the Houston metro think that this is their personal ER for their kid. Even with my HFD ID and pleading with the triage nurse to see my 2 & 1/2 year old who had fell from 4 feet, landed on her head, and had been vomiting for the last 6 hours - it still took them 3 hours - at which point we walked out. I'm not saying don't go there - just be prepared to wait with the rest of the parents of the Houston metro area.

8. Finally, never hesitate to call 911, but don't expect a transport on the ambulance to get you quicker service. You will get triaged at the ER the same as all the walk-in patients. The difference is that it cost you a $450.00 taxi ride to get there. If you're legitimately ill/injured you'll get a bed right away.

I hope none you have to ever go to the ER, but if you do, hopefully you'll have a plan.
