I am going to go out on a limb here and assume that maybe Treston is just thinking about a smaller group of folks that just want to get together and talk about their fish and or tanks, equipment or anything else, in a more relaxed casual manner?
Perhaps without the typical format of agenda and or officers....????
Well, send a few shouts out to some locals my young friend and see if you can come up with a compatible date and time to get together, if at all possible, I'll come by and shoot the breeze with you all.
CF
Will do. I don't know if it will be this month, but maybe the next.

I think what you are talking about is a good idea. Just contact a few people on your side of town and see if you can arrange a "get together" at your home or someone else's home to hang out and talk fish.
The last time I invited some folks over for the same thing, I think I had three people all together show up. That was almost two years ago. It just depends if you have enough people interested and willing.
I've thought about getting people together on my side to hang out too, just haven't gotten around to it...too busy with everything else.
I'm thinking if it would happen, we could do it at the park near my house because they just re-did it and it has fishing and BB-Q's.

Lol- starting a fish group isn't as easy as you think. Maybe you can just push for more meetings if that's what you're looking for.
There's funding, contests, prizes, lots of expenses, finding a place to have the meetings, trying to please everyone...I'm with Raul, we need a smiley that has a headache.
Oh that reminds me, i need to post in CAK. *insert headache* YOKE
I wouldnt necessarily say that I mean GHAC and HAS cover the idea of general aquatic people and encompass the city. The only thing is difference in view points of direction and this is not meant to be a shot at anyone or group so no one should get their undies in a bunch over this. I am saying that multiple clubs can coexist with no problems as long as it serves its members you might have a problem when you get to many clubs in the same area lack of attendance doesnt help the club last.
I can sympathize with prefering closer meetings, but I dont think a club that covers the same territory (both area and topic) as existing clubs would be that successful.
This group would be it's own group! If it would happen, we would have to choose a name for the group. It wouldn't be a chapter of any other fish group in Houston.
