Proper etiquette when selling fish

That's a different ball game. When you are given the opportunity to see the fish before purchasing them then it gives the opportunity to get rid of any doubt. As far as purchasing online, I always ask for pictures or videos and the rest is dependent on the reputation of the seller. I wouldn't order fish from certain people anymore because of their reputation. This guy literally came to my doorstep to pick up the fish but didn't want to see them.

So, when ordering online it's ok to not see the fish but at the same time you have no idea what this person looks like, you don't who exactly they are, if needed you have no way of actually getting in touch with the person, have no idea what conditions they kept them in, or any sort of history but it's ok.


Maybe the person feels that he can minimize the time being in the car where it would be more detrimental with all the variables that could effect them then sitting in a bucket at your house?

or rather, that person has the courtesy to allow you to stress out trying to catch them all without him glaring at you or even better yet, stressing one's self watching someone chase down and inducing a stressful situation for the fish?

Well that is his choice not to see them first. I like to see them first. But i have ordered fish without ever seeing a picture or video. Pictures and videos can and usually always doctored

Stupid-acting in an unintelligent or careless manner. He's pretty stupid. Same person sold me some red rainbow of which one died the same night and never let me see the fish but my girl wanted them so bad we went ahead and did it in good faith. Then he bought fish from me and adamantly told me he didn't want to see the fish prior to purchasing the fish after I told him I didn't feel comfortable selling fish in that manner. Now this? If that's not stupid I don't know what is.

I do agree that some people like their privacy. But that should be discussed before someone drives across town to purchase fish

I'd prefer to see them prior to making a purchase, I wouldn't go as far as saying the person is stupid since it's different people's perspective on how to go about such transaction.

Unless I'm unloading sick fish, I'd let them come through and peep the fish first.

With the onslaught of not so pleasant people floating around lately I'd be hesitant about inviting strangers into the house.

He bought trophs from someone else on this site and he requested them to catch fish beforehand and hold into a bucket until he picks them up. Then complains about losing some fish when he gets them home. I'm with you, I'd like to see if the fish was healthy and good color. Makes me wonder if he was hiding something considering you know what you're looking for in trophs? I would have walked away without buying them, too much of a risk otherwise. How are they looking in your tank?

If I were to sell fish to someone I'd let them into my home to see the fish in a calm state, well calm as can be expected. I say this bc this is what I'd expect if purchasing from a fellow hobbyist. Especially if I'm dropping a decent amount of money on the fish. I may remove the rock, but would definitely leave them in the tank. Just my opinion...

Well Jason in the tropheus game we all like to see our fish to make sure they are healthy cause there are alto of people that will sell colonies when they are sick. This is not the case here they fish are healthy
