Re: Ever thought about starting a fish store?
I'd go to this... even if they were separate stores next to each other.Originally posted by mistahoo View PostYup! Tapioca, banh mi, and coffee upstairs. The real biz (fish) downstairs. None of that fish n pets crap. Fish only! Probably hit up another way to make money upstairs just don't know what yet. I've got so much time to plan this out. Gotta have TVs upstairs though!

The problem is that most people bring tend to bring in low quality stuff . . . and they are incredibly 'proud' of it.Originally posted by moganman View PostA great idea with doing fish store would be for the owner to buy fish from members here and actually pay cash for them instead of doing store credit like most stores do. It will help the members sell their livestock and keep everything local.

I've pretty much decided against opening a LFS. Too much of a time commitment. Maybe when I retire...Originally posted by MURRAY View PostTims Got the itch again? lol

Re: Ever thought about starting a fish store?
Nw side is also a good place. We don't have anything good over here but we've got a lot of hobbyists here. It would save a trip to sw side. I find myself always going to all the lfs in sw side when I get in the area
I want to do this now Lmao. Probably start off small and in house until I would be able to get a good storefront at a good price and location. Food, lounge, and fish store.

Some do actually buy from breeders. But if you're talking about just some random guy walks in with 10 fry then idk if that will cut it.Originally posted by moganman View PostA great idea with doing fish store would be for the owner to buy fish from members here and actually pay cash for them instead of doing store credit like most stores do. But a good place to open should be in the Katy area since we don't have fish stores out in that area. Petco and petsmart don't count.
Start off as a small store half salt and half fresh water. If the customer is looking for something particular and you don't have it you can always do special orders. Pricing is also a thing to look at also. Reasonably priced fish and dry goods will be a plus. Happy customer = happy owner
