Welcome to the Box! Tropheus are beautiful fish and there is so many to choose from. I am sure one of these days I will stock one of my tanks with some as well. I hope you enjoy chatting with everyone here, there are some super nice people that are willing to answer any questions you may have.

Welcome! Trophs are popular here. You will get a lot of help and support with these guys here. Keep a lookout out on the sales threads as fry and colonies are occasionally offered by other members.

Small river rocks would work. With Trophs you want a minimum of 15 due to aggression. In a 125 you could probably house 30 with good filtration and water movement.Originally posted by Britni View Postok so do they have to have sand in the bottom of the tank or can they have small river rocks??? and how many do u put together if u have a 125 gal.

Welcome to HFB, Britni!
Check out this forum for some good ol' Friday night reading:
Houston Area and Beyond. Tropheus and Petrochromis keepers sharing knowledge, experiences, and networking together to spread interest and improving quality of life for these fishes in aquarium environments.
Everything you want to know about tropheus, and a bit too much about the members here!

All good choices! If you're anything like me, you'll change your mind about 50 times before you actually get down to picking out fish.

Im not even sure what I really want to switch to, when this all first started after i got my 40 gal established and going I was like hmmm.... BIGGER!!!!!! so I go bigger I got a gost knife fish, 6 diff mini grammi, 4 fancy tetras and called it good well i was over that. I kicked my bass out to the pond and my perch, moved those guys to my 40 gal. ended up with flower horn girl and now im thinking not so great. I was almost talked in to discus fish by Dustin at Houston Aquarium warehouse but then I was like no to many water changes all the time. So now im thinking of going with angle fish and some kind of tetras or as i said before african cichlids
