Thanks for the video! That was pretty cool. Found it funny they are know to the locals as "those that cannot drink beer".

Mormyrids are notoriously sensitive to water parameters and are a great living barometer for water quality in your tanks. They are even used by Germans in their water plants. They are one of the only fish that have been recorded as 'playing' when a small ball of aluminum foil was introduced to their tanks and are observed chasing it and what appears to be playfulness. Here is that video I was referring to, not sure why I have never seen any of these in a monster tank as they would be very cool as far as huge predators go...

Yeah... Mine liked to be at the top of the tank at night and I figure when the light came on it startled him and pop.. out the tank he went... really sucked, he was my favorite fish at the time.

Very cool Mormyrid, I think seeing that video of the Dolphin Mormyrids in Malawi hunting cichlids at night forever changed my perception of that family....

Oh yeah, this tank is closed tight! I have an African Butterfly fish that decided to do his own stunts (which is the best way) and found him on the floor. After that, i made sure that tank was sealed closed. Another little guy in there that acts like he has a death wish is my ropefish. I have a feeling if the top wasnt sealed he would have been found DOF. (dead on floor)Originally posted by CRUSHER View Postdid i see an elephant nose in there? if so, keep a lid on that tank.. they like to jump out. mine jumped out twice and that was it... he died the second time. i had a lid on the tank except for an 1 1/2 in the back for cords and stuff. he jumped right out through there.

Thanks everyone! I will keep yall updated on the gobies. They are pretty funny little fish. They usually stay around the bottom and they like to perch. They remind me of blennies from when I had a saltwater tank. Cool little fish.
