With a 1kg bottle of safe, doing 500 gallons of water changes a week, that equals 400 weeks of use. Conservatively speaking, let's say 300 weeks. That's almost 6 years. About $4 a year for dechlorinator.

I guess there's 3 types of AmQuel then. I found AmQuel, AmQuel+, and AmQuel+ Plus. I'm using whatever Petsmart is selling in the 1 gallon jug.

sometimes they have amquel+ and sometimes they have amquel+plus I guess it depends what comes on the truck. I asked and that is what they told me lol.

I wouldn't recommend that use one or the other you never know what will react with what.
