I have a 35 gal tank. I just ordered plants which will arrive Wednesday. Among the plants are:
    Dwarf hairgrass
    Dwarf baby tears
    Japanese rush
    Cabomba
First question is: will these plants be able to grow in sand?
Next what kind of fish can I put in it?
I was thinking either endler or guppys or neon tetras or maybe all 3

most plants will grow in sand but its not my first choice and it can harbor dangerous anaerobic bacteria in the long run if it doesnt get stirred up every now and then. the baby tears might be tough but i havent personally tried it yet...thats just what i have read. rinse it well or you wll get particulates stuck all in the frilley plants like cabomba. dont expect outstanding growth unless you fertilize. any fish appreciate a planted tank but stay away from african cichlids or they will likely eat the plants. i think livebearers like endlers and guppies prefer harder water than neons do so you might go one way or the other.
