If I wanted to wash sand, I could have washed my old sand. I wanted to just dump and go like you can do with the old Leslie's brand.

Hopefully, this other stuff I picked up will be okay. I hope it matches the old Leslie's since I already have a bag of that in the tank now. Otherwise, I'll have to try to mix it to make it blend together.

The tank is taking much too long for resealing. I hope the guy doing it isn't having problems and having to undo and redo his work. How long has he had that tank so far? Seems like a month, but maybe I'm just being impatient.

I completely understand what you mean about washing your old sand.

My choice, I wash all my new sand less cloudiness on start up. And cichlids won't kick up dust when moving sand. I like this stuff. Can you post a pic of the bag for me.

It's been about a month or so, but I also understand he has a full time job, family and his aquarium cabinet business. It's all gonna come together in the end. Patients not my best virtue but I'm getting better with it.

Yeah the sand I bought from Leslie's hasn't said Leslie's on the bag but it's has been a silica bases sand. I know the contouer brand your talking about. Stay away from it..... Unless its what you want and you have the time to thoroughly rinse it before use. I have used it before, it's really not bad after its been cleaned.

I tried a general pool supply store, and the Leslies a bit north of 610 on 290. Both only had Contour brand. Just an FYI.

I'm blindly happy with my Carib-sea, but as implied, I don't think I have a reason to be.

I'm looking forward to the pics, too! I wish I could have stayed longer to have met MJ, but I had a long trip ahead of me so I had to leave. It was great getting those plants from you, and I appreciate that you told me about them being at City Pets. I would have walked right by them, not even knowing the possibilities. I'm looking forward to getting my rescape done now, once I can get my husband to help me with the rocks again.

Let me know what you find when you get your sand. One of the Leslie's Pool stores only had the Contour brand sand which I absolutely do not recommend. I sent my husband to get me sand, and that's what he came home with, saying the guy at the store said that was the one to buy for aquariums. Fortunately, I tested a little of it in water before adding it to my tank, and the dust cloud was horrible. So we just dumped it.

I went to another Leslie's store yesterday and they had the Contour brand and another brand, but it wasn't marked Leslie's. On the back it said it contained silica sand which is right so I made the guy open the bag and put some in water. That came up clean and looked like the original Leslie's sand from earlier. So I think it's the same thing. I haven't even taken it out of the trunk of my car (it's 50lbs so I need help with it) so I haven't been able to check it any further.

I'd like to know if you run into the same stuff when you buy sand or if you are able to get bags that are labeled with the Leslie's brand like they used to be.

Alright. I finally have gotten my mag 12 pump for my wet/dry setup. If you've never dealt with MyJohnson, you should. Great guy helped me out by having that pump and being willing to sell it to me. I will be working on the stand this evening, after I help my son with his homework. It's time to cut holes and and get things installed in preparation for the tank, which is still a few weeks out from completion. It's cool for now cause I don't have the rest of what I need to get the tank running. Still need to get eggcrate, sand, glass tops( can't order until I have tank and a power strip. I'd still really like to find another wet dry box. If someone has one they don't need hit me up. I will post pics tonight after the work is completed.

I'm back on board with Complexity... you can find a strong, black paint or enamel for cheap, and get the job down now and every time you need to paint some intake/output tubing for the next 25 years.

Yeah, that's why I wanna find black if possible. Again, not a top priority right now. That's getting the 300......

Just remember that the dark gray pipes turn much lighter under water.

A can of Krylon Fusion costs around $5-$10, depending on where you get it.

Check Lowes, and look in the Irrigation (sprinklers) section. I bought some dark gray, appropriately sized piping from there on the cheap. Just need to be creative with which of their connections to buy to make sure you've got all you need.

I'd like them to be black but, it definitely ain't at the top priority at this time. Trying to devote money to Christmas, bills, and the final needed equipment needed for the 300.

That's why I'm gonna look for some black pipe. If I can't find what I need then I'll paint. I got time to look. Even so. The green doesn't bother me.
