Ok so i wanted to share what i did to modify these lil internal filters. They come setup with just a med coarse sponge and thats it. But being a diy guy i knew there was ways to make it more efficient for what i needed.

So i cut the sponges into about a third of the size. I had found some really fine foam material and itll trap smaller particles. So i cut some round pieces out to go om top of the coarse sponge. Then on top of the fine foam i added some bio matrix. In the top portion of these lil filters theres a blank open chamber. So there was an area for something there. Did some thinking and came up with a carbon chamber. The lil plastic carbon things from a fluval mini fit in there pretty well. So basically iv made these into a micro internal canister, if u think about it. Iv posted some pics so u can see how it looks, functions and the process of the mods. The one pic shows the filter on the right and media on left to show how it stacks in there. Pic with the monster is to show the size of filters when all assembled. Now these are big but their only for a ten gal so flow is about 100 gph. Which is plenty for size of tank. And reg maintenance and weekly wc will be just fine.

Ok so today i finally got the light hooked up and wired in. With so many tanks and regular fish maintenance i get a lil bit busy. Lol. So i wired these separate, but on the same switch so that i can have the bottom/top or top on or off. Lights really arent anything special or fancy just some 36 t5 hd fixtures. But they're working for what i need. Heres a few pics to show the setup and lit up tanks.

Ok, so iv been trying to figure out a light situation on these tanks. Today i did. Went to Hd and they have a two bulb t5 setup thats 36' which fits the rack perfectly! So i got two of them, one for bottom one for top. Ill wire these up this weekend and put them on a double throw switch so i can have top or bottom lit or both. Sounds complicated but its not to hard. Also i didnt like the all white look so i had some blue sleeves layin around, figured they'd add some blue hues to the tanks. Fry factory is almost there !! Lol

Its a spray paint from HD, the deep blue tint. I put on a few coats to give it good coverage, the bottoms just got cheap dollar cans of black.
