One of these poor guys who lost his fish during a water change has pm'ed me. We will be making a carbon snake for him this week. He lives at Kykendahl & fm2920. A couple of blocks from me. Our water out here is jacked up right now! I think you could bleach your whites in it with out adding bleach.

I would go to your local water district and tell them they are poisoning your fish. See if they will give you some. I meet one of the guys that works on the water system and he gave me a hand full. They are called hach total chlorine reagents. Use your api test tubes fill to the 5ml mark add reagent. If no pink there is no chlorine. Then test your tap water it will be very pink. I can't find these local. I've tried. jarrodaden pm me I will give you some.

I use an adapter found at Lowe's or HD. Adapts most kitchen/bathroom sinks to hose size thread. That plus another adapter will fit every faucet in my house except my brand new "fancy" kitchen faucet. If you need a 90 degree to make it work, they are available in the hose thread size.

so with the weather getting cold...how do you guys manage to use the cold water coming out??

all the faucets in my house have no hose connecters to connect too to get "warm" water running though.

    any ideas????

I think the short pass would kill fish eventually. I like the long pass 15ft or more. Some people have used them but with the w/c I do I don't think it would work to long. I saw one tonite on a pond supply co. that was 1ft long 1 1/2 dia. with hose threads that they said will remove chlorine for 10,000 gallons of water.

Thanks, but all the credit goes to John. Mine is the same as his design just in a different conduit.

    Here are pics

I worry about the amount of contact time between water and carbon. I still use water conditioner as a precaution.

    oooo i like your idea!!
