i am not sure, i was working in herps primarily so that was just a one time deal. i wouldnt be surprised if they were not, zoo types dont like dismanteling the critters even for their own safety. these were for a petting zoo type thing in the dallas zoo though....

i have handled rays at a zoo before, they are pretty dang strong for sure. no one ever seemed concerned about getting hit though.

hmmm... I thought I saw trev post up some pure Leos, guess I didn't pay much attention since they are way out of my price range and for other obvious reasons.
I have noticed that most pics/vids of rays make them seem a lot bigger than they actually are or at least the ones I have seen in person after seeing pictures but I agree... handling or coming near them is a bit intimidating and makes your heart skip a few beats.

mini fridge just drill two holes...Originally posted by Totenkampf View Posti often wondered about finding an old water drinking fountain and trying that. its probably a similar setup to a fridge but might require less tinkering with since its already plumbed.

Might have been a smart remark but, either way would be cool if it could do that.

i have made large paludariums this way with no problems, but then they werent full of water so i am not sure how they seams would hold the stress unless you got fancy and finger jointed them.Originally posted by ometh View PostAnd from the DIYs the plywood ones dont even seem that hard to make. It's more time consuming and patients more then anything because you have to go over the epoxy(I think that's what you use to bond) over and over again then like several coats of some type of paint? Idk I'll have to look more into it

People love to gossip about dirt. I am surprised that any people dont know that "certain" fish is illegal unless you tell them. I suggest keeping the term "illegal" out of all conversation, I am not suggesting illegal activity, but I am just saying :)Originally posted by ometh View Postjust can't have big mouths roaming my house :P lol
I have been following him, but most of his pup are leo/hen aka hybrid. I want leopoldi with no crossing. As some may already know, raising stingray pup is a pain :) those blackworms, earthworms are pricely. I am looking for another female that is already stabled and trained, just like mine.Originally posted by eklikewhoa View PostHave you tried Trev or whatever on MFK? I seen some blackies listed recently but with a male like that I would just breed those bad boys and hoard them!
12" disc doesn't seem too big.... [Looks down at tile floor]... Have you seen that female go after any live fish?
12" doesnt sound impressive but when you actually look at them in person, they can be intermindating. I am waiting for another year so they can start breeding....well hoping to breed :)
I try feeding them 2x a day, fully loaded. Otherwise they will eat everything in my tank. So far, they kill couple of my indo dats, barbs, and a gourami. 2-3x yellowfin got stabbed. My wife says, "if i get stabbed and poisoned. My tanks are outta here :)"
I am aways keeping my eyes out. I have found that african cichlids with rays are a bad mix. The african love to nipple on the tails and spots. I took them all out, chopped them in half and feed them to the rays ;oP it is either $30 africans or $1400 rays...Originally posted by ometh View PostI'd actually wanna know about the live fish too. From what it seems, they're pretty "docile" as rays goes. I would fear to put any kind of fish in there and nip at my prized ray D:

Seeing the size of some of these bad boys they could take down a small baby.
I've read of both ways...guess its all how you rear them.
