I'm deathly allergic to those types of bites/stings. Last time I was stung by a bee I went into shock, stopped breathing, body was filled with hives and I was rushed to the emergency room and woke up later that night not knowing what happened.

All because I got a new pellet gun and found a bee hive at a vacant house.

From what I saw on NatGeo, their poison derives from the venom in fire ants.

Oh yeah! I remember reading that now. Hence your obsession with feeding them fire ants.

Are they poisonous in captivity too Brian? I thought I read somewhere that some types are not, or if they're bred in captivity then they're not poisonous. Can't remember what exactly I read.

They are poisons depending on their diet...they can be poisonous in captivity if you feed them what the eat in the wild to be poisonous....which would be fire ants. :)

Damn glad you didnt get to taste them. Man you and Kiko were freaking when I first started to touch them. Jacob has the parents to these. That would be cool to feed them the ants maybe I can control my ant population in my backyard. Then again someone is going to forget and then its all fun and games until someone puts an eye out.
