Looks like they are curious about something new in the tank...

It's more like they're fatties. I fed them til they were full and then put in the algae wafer for the pleco, and they went after that too. Guess they're foodies like me.

Ive got large WC goldhead comps in with mine and they ignore each other. My favorite with the moba are my foai "sibwesa". They are large fish and easy going. I'm going to clear out everything else and just have the moba, foai and comps as soon as I get around to it.

Looked up the foai sibwesa... gorgeous fish. Really fast too! And the comps look neat too. Maybe I'll wait til the Moba are larger and then start adding.

I would go with these because they are all known for being very passive species, plus they live in lower light areas as frontosa do.

Calvus do grow slow, but if you purchase adults, they will do fine, calvus and comps have uniquely designed scales for evading predation, they arch their bodies and expose their Sharp bony scales, which basically wedges them in place, making them almost impossible to swallow or remove from crevices.

Gnathochromis are sand sifters and grow to a resonably large size.

I have a bunch of clown loaches in with my Fronts and i plan on leaving it at that.

I did consider calvus at one time but they grow really really slow.

Fronts grow pretty slow too though.

I like clown loaches but the bf doesn't... and "technically" it's "his" tank. I'm looking around for synos and am gonna be picking up some L-144 plecos from TangoMike in a couple weeks.

Large calvus/compressiceps, benthochromis tricoti, gnathochromis permaxillaris, these would be my choices with frontosa.

All really nice-lookin fish. Why would you choose those?

Remember that Mobas are large predatory fish - whatever can fit in their mouths sooner or later will go in their mouths so plan your fish accordingly.

True. I've actually been more concerned about other fish bothering my Mobas if we eventually decide on getting other types of fish. We wouldn't subject a smaller or less aggressive fish to the larger Moba, but it shouldn't go the other way around either. For example, I hear haps are notorious fin nippers, and the tropheus moorii that FR has in his store tank with his Moba colony have been tearing up the Mobas' fins too.

When did you add other tankmates in with them? Still debating on a species tank vs. not.

I kept them in a tank solo for 3 months or so until I got the 180 for them. I've only got 5 so I had plans from the beginning to add other fish. Remember that Mobas are large predatory fish - whatever can fit in their mouths sooner or later will go in their mouths so plan your fish accordingly.
