In my opinion, I would say Ultimate is probably the best when it comes to selection of tangs and other rare species....

I'd have to say they are probably the most expensive place to shop for the same fish as well....

But overall, I like Ultimate and the people there....

his fish are always healthy and show quality. his prices aren't a bargain, but they're competitive with other LFS, especially considering he's always got those hard-to-find Tangs or Malawis.

Is he willing to sell them in the first place ? I mean if that is all it takes then sure when I have some money again I would so do it.. but I dont think he is willing to sell. That is the whole issue here.

Semper you should have come by. I have 3 gallons. I am going to get my NLS from Dustin at HAW. He's one of the only people that will sell me what I want. I do not care what a LFS owner thinks about some fish food. The Bulu's is going to take money say maybe $300.00 a fish. So $900.00 for 3 fish. I'm broke!!!!!

Yes there is a point where the fish get to old to breed..
I would just like to see more of them in the trade.
This is why I came up with the suggestion. Since John is nearby I would most likely setup a tank at his place so people and Alex can at any time come look at his fish.
There are 4 males and 2 females. I wouldnt be asking for all the fish. I would be only looking to get 1 male and 1 female. I would put ditherfish in there so the chance of chasing etc would be minimized. Obviously extra care would be given to the fish ie making sure that time is spent looking at them to ensure they where doing good and lots of hiding places for the fish. If they expire this would be an obvious problem, but then again who want to see 6 rare fish just live in 6 different tanks forever and never have a chance to breed. I would like to see more of them in the trade. Basically this is why I said what I said. Its sad we have them here in Houston, but we are looking to Europe to get even just juviniles to breed them. I just wish a comprimise could be attained. This is why I would suggest offering up 10% of the fry. I know that John with the right setup and the right people working on assisting John could get some breeding action going for them. Give it enough time and we could have a large colony of them. We have very knowable people here in this town. Its just a shame to let these fish live in small tanks, and not see spawning which could enrich us all with some wonderful fish.

seeing what alex charges for regular fish, i am pretty sure he would make you sign a legal document stating if they die you owe him everything you own, first and second born, and probably both arms and legs.

There are some ilangi here in Austin with the same problem. These fish are literally killing each other or get sold off one at a time.

Everyone of them has their own tank now!

He might as well just kill them or something because all he is doing to them is giving them a slow death.If anything, times are really hard on lfs so I bet if anyone dropped some cash in there they might get lucky.If John or Geoff got there hands on them I bet you they could get them to breed if the fish are not to old.

I wonder if Alex will ever let someone breed his bulu points for him.. I mean I would be interested in getting a male and female and breed them and once I have about 75-100 young return the breeding pair to him along with 10% of the fry as a bonus.
