Its always best to go with live sand, but I actually use aquaquartz from leslies pool supplies. you can get a 50 lb bag for 12$. I never have any phosphate or silicate issues, I have used it in fresh and salt tanks for years, and its still running in some large public aquarium display tanks. Its a very beautiful sand, its heavy as well as very fine grain. Detritus sits on top, easy to clean and stays super white."And she was lost at sea... I think she would like that"
