  • Slow 200 Build #2

Check it Out! Im working on another 200. This time its going to be saltwater and will replace the 70 bowfront. Some of you may remember the 200 I started building in 2012. Well I found another tank the same size and the wife let me pick it up. It will be a slow build again but I wanted to share.
Heres the old link to the 200 I still have. http://www.houstonfishbox.com/vforum...slow-200-build

The 70 bowfront to be replaced.

So part of the tank trim broke off and I was going to glue it back on but can't find it now. Any ideas on what to do about this missing portion of trim.

I ended up cutting a piece of trim off an old tank and glued it in place.
Then I did my water check and found three drips. One was the bulkhead on the return line and was an easy fix. The other two I just added some extra glue on the outside of the coupling to stop the drip.
I let the tank circulate with tap water for a few days and drained. Then I filled with RO/DI, added sand, a few new rocks, and then the salt. It's been circulating for a few days now.

I moved over some of the Live rock the past two days along with a few corals. Tonight I caught the fire shrimp, PJ cardinal, and Scopas Tang then I also moved a few more rocks that had corals and RBTAs.

Not the best pics but I got a few.

I didn't have tops on my bowfront and lost a fish before so I decided the 200 needed to be covered. I ordered the clear net from BRS and went to Lowe's to get a window frame kit. Also, super excited today is fish pickup day! Pics later

I've got a Kole, Blonde Naso, Desjardini, and Scopas Tang.
The two clowns, Two gobies, Two bicolor blennies, yellow damsel, yellowtail damsel, two Lyretail Anthias, Purple Queen Anthia, and a Carberryi Anthia (Favorite so far).
The Desjardini and Naso are pigs and eat ALL Day!

I forgot I wanted to mention the ATO I made a while back. I've got an Aqua lifter plugged into a modified extension cord. The neutral side was cut and the leads to a float switch were soldered in to make the connection. Then I made a hangar out of 1/2" fittings and pipe. I've used this type of setup for three years and only had one float switch go out on me.

                          Tank Disaster....😥😥
I suspect Brooklynella hitched a ride and has hit my tank. Tried to pin point my mistake and I think it came in on some Trochus snails. I never put them in QT so they went straight in the tank. Turns out they were DOA.

Couple days ago the wife fed the tank with all fish eating and well. That evening we had several abrupt losses. Check the water and it seemed there was a spike in ammonia so I did a small water change. Noticed heavy breathing on some of the fish but the Kole Tang seemed perfect. Next morning he was dead. Then I noticed this stuff on the clownfish....And it gradually engulfed both of them. Then it appeared on the pj cardinal. Skip to the end now and all the fish are in QT.
                          Lost:
                          male/ female anthias
                          Kole Tang
                          One clownfish
                          Both bicolor blennies
                          Blue tail damsel
                          Half and half damsel
                          Chromis ? Maybe

                          Short Clownfish video.
