  • All male rainbow fish tank possible?

I was wondering, is it possible to have an all male rainbow fish tank? I have a 65 gallon tall tank that I want to convert from salt into a freshwater tank and dont know to much about freshwater fish. In saltwater it could work but could also fail amazingly quickly. Are freshwater rainbow fish relationships similar?

I have kept fish of all kinds for over 10 years.

It depends on the rainbow IMO... in a tank that size I wouldn't do multiple males of the larger rainbows without females to distract/reduce their aggression. They will also likely have better coloration if kept as a group. They do better in a planted tank; if you can give them that, they look absolutely stunning. But your tank is a little on the shorter size for some of them as they hit 4-6 inches and are active swimmers (like tangs in saltwater) They need a 6ft tank IMO to keep a nice group. You can keep the smaller varieties like the praecox though
