Chichlids and Cory cat?

My neighbor was going to flush these guys down the toilet to make room for guppies. Good thing I was around in a nick of time to save them. Are thy compatible with small Cory cats?

I think they're convict chichlids?

yes they are black convicts. and no they will not work with corys. more likely than not they will stress the corys until they die, or just kill them.

It was good for the fish. They are not great tank mates and they breed like rabbits.

Only had them for about a week and they're alot bigger already. Have voracious appetite too. Glad I saved them though.

glad you saved them too. sad to see a perfectly healthy fish get flushed.

yes they grow fast and breed fast. some can have a mean streak. just give them a flower pot and you are set. the females will develop a red/pink spot on their abdomen and the males will just get larger with long pointed finnage.

some stores will just take the fry, but not give much.

Yea they're mean but not mother in law mean :) I put up a flimsy acrylic divider in my 55 to separate the Cory cats on one side. Everybody happy.
