  • Glass tops

I bought two 24" Aqueon glass tops for my 55 gallon. They are about 1/8 to 3/16" too wide to fit inside the trim. I was wondering what the easiest way too trim them to fit would be.

It's been a while since I've bought glass tops since I run open tanks but do yours come with a plastic strip in the back? If so, trim to fit.

You can try a glass shop but they usually want to cut off about 3/4" because it is very hard to remove small amounts. I have used a belt sander with coarse paper to sand a 1/8" off but it is very time consuming.

Sounds like it might be easier to silicone tabs to the underside.

If the glass itself doesn't fit, I would return it and get something smaller. If the plastic part doesn't fit, you can cut if off using scissor. I usually just leave the plastic part off.
