  • July Livebearer Meeting at Houston Aquatics

    When - Saturday, July 11 at 2:00pm - 5:00pm
    Where - 1022 N Shepherd Dr, Houston, TX 77008

The July meeting of the Greater Houston Aquarium Club and Texas Aquatics will be held at Houston Aquatics. We will be covering the livebearing toothcarps of Poeciliidae including guppies, platies, mollies, swordtails, to Goodeids and Limia. We will cover their care and discuss the various species available. Also we will discuss species extinct in the wild and the importance of our hobby to preserve and continue these wonderful fish for the next generation of our children and possibly reintroducing them back to their native habitats. Brandon O'Brian, Elizabeth Guisinger, and I will be the key speakers. We will be collecting for M.D. Anderson Cancer treatments and will announce more things as we hammer out the details. Looking forward to seeing everyone here!

              Characodon lateralis, Los Berros
              Characodon audax, El Toboso
              Ilyodon furcidens
              Limia "Tiger", Lake Miragoane, Haiti
              Xenotoca eiseni, San Marcos
              Zoogoneticus tequila, Rio Teuchitlan

All as subadult trios, colored and look amazing, these are just crazy rare. One is extinct in the wild and two are critically endangered and could be extinct in the wild as well.
