Take it out, quarantine in a smaller tank. I usually treat with parasite guard and had good results. Others might use, metro or clout.

I notice his stomach is ballooning up couple days ago. I thought he was eating too much. Will try to get some med tomorrow.

This article gives a good description. they recommend metro or clout as well to treat in QT....combined with a little epsom salt to clear out the excess retained water. i have never had to treat for bloat, so figured the link is more useful.

Like you, I rarely have to deal with bloat so don't have the med handy. I will get some Metro for future use.

He is a rare Tanganyikan cichlid. I have not seen them at any LFS here in Houston. Not sure if anybody else keeps them?

He sure is beautiful. I love white fish. I was wondering how a person would know if it's bloat or just a piggy, but I see he's stopped eating. I really hope that he recovers. Poor baby.

Bloat symptoms: swollen stomach, stop eating, sitting on substrate, reclusiveness...

Pull him out into a separate tank, epson salts, metro, and water changes. keep the water as clean as you can and no feeding for the next several days
