  • My guppy baby tank

I'm new to the hobby, but I already have a fry tank and it's FULL of guppies! I'm super excited and will be looking for a few new homes for them soon (my other tank is only 36 gallons).

Guppies are a fun starter fish and breed very readily. It is neat to see them all grow and see what patterns you get. as troy delicately put haha some people have a colony just to produce live food for larger fish since they are prolific breeders.

Finding new homes for them generally entails just off loading to a pet store. you wont get much (if anything) for them since fancy guppies are common and inexpensive....but you never know until you ask.

Welcome to the box! I have 6 beautiful guppies that are in with the 10 Tetra cardinal for now. I might start a new tank for just guppies and let them do their thing.

HA! Nice one, Troy. I'm attached to these little guys so I'd prefer not to think of them as food. I got some Bluegrass males and 3 females, that were all pregnant, a few weeks ago. So a lot of them are from a strain that were winners at IFGA. No idea if I can actually sell them for what I paid for them, but if I could break even I would be so happy. If I can't, I'll just keep the prettiest ones and take the others to a LFS or offer them for a few cents (or free) on here... But definitely NOT Troy! No offense

By the way, I'm kinda close to you ptran. I'm at Westpark Tollway and 1464

, Guppies are fun and very beautiful fish. They can be more high end but most are not.
Yes I do have bigger fish and I have raised guppies and endlers as food. But when I started in the hobby. Guppies were my fist fish.

My show tank has Pterophyllum Altum, Geophagus Brasiliensis, and Geophagus Tapajo. There are pictures of a few of my tank around here some where.

but same here....i started with guppies, mollies, platties, moons, swordtails, etc. all the typical community live bearers. but i have branched out now. one african tank, one SA, one community, one pea puffer tank....i am all over the place haha

My friend has a 20 gallon guppies tank with an internal filter. They breed like...guppies. LOL. I looked at the tank and thought: "hmmm....there are more fish than water in there".

I have a feeling I'll be upgrading my 36 again, or just getting another tank. I can see myself getting super into the hobby! I NEVER thought I would be so into fish, but here I am.
