Absolutely! Purigen absorbs nitrate and main purpose of wc is to remove nitrate.

      • Sorry I might have lied to you there.
Correction: purigen removes organic matters that might decompose into toxic matter like ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. It does not directly remove nitrate but eliminates the issue to begin with.

        • Ok, thanks for checking. Do you still believe that you can go longer between water changes though? if I have to I can get my husband to do the maintenence, but it would be nice to know there's actually something that can help like that.

          • Yes, I do. Purigen helps keep the Nitrate level down, therefore you can go longer between water change. I have it on all my tank. Love it.

            • I don't use purigen. My fish are fin with out it.

              • I'm sure you'll be okay w/o Purigen. I started using it recently and notices big improvement on the water clarity. So now I'm a fan.

                • I'm back, did you guys miss me? I had to have surgery to get a kidney stone removed... Yuck!

Anyways, I finally installed the ac110 today. I had to modify the tank lid in order to get this beast to fit! It's finally in and going, so we'll see how the water quality improves. So far it's nice, but if the water gets too low it's so loud!

                  • Welcome back! Yep the 110 is a beast. I use it currently in my 90 gallon tank. You need to keep water level just 1-2" below the trim to keep the water sloshing noise down.

                    • How on earth did I miss this post?! I'm glad you're feeling better Crizz. I've had stones block bile ducts that caused acute pancreatitis and stones that caused the gallbladder to be removed. Stones are horrible!

How do you like the AQ? I still love mine.
