  • Marbled Crawfish

Is anyone looking for marbled crawfish? I am able to catch them from behind my house. I still have some I caught last year and they are definitely a dwarf crawfish species. With all the rain and the drainage canals flooded, now is the time of year to go grab them.

Marbled crayfish are the a sexual self cloning kind, you sure that's what your catching?

I don't know if it is a native species but I know this is a dwarf species of crawfish and they appear to be marbled crawfish by appearance. There is also regular crawfish but they are a darker solid color and larger than the ones I've been keeping. The canal is also filled with trapdoor snails that aren't suppose to be there. If there are any dwarf species that are native, then it could be that, but I've read the marbled crawfish is considered an invasive species as it reproduces rapidly and is tolerant of a wide range of water conditions.

One of them is berried in my nano right now. Can't say whether it is cloning or not cause there are 2 others in the tank with it.

North Richmond, Grand Mission subdivision near Westpark tollroad. I wasn't able to catch any yesterday but we are suppose to get more rain tomorrow and on Friday and Saturday. Best time to catch them is when the drainage is full of water. It wasn't moving yesterday so I wasn't able to catch anything.

Let me know how many you are wanting, I will catch all I can and I will get them to you.

Not big enough for a boil. I had a heater break in my cherry shrimp tank and the temp went up 95 and killed all my shrimp. The angelfish I had at the time sure enjoyed that.

I just wanted to update, I wasn't able to catch any ones from the creek, but I just found little crawfish fry all over my nanotank! Pretty exciting!
