Try to stick with aquarium salt as Barrett said. Epsom is more for digestive/constipation issues and raising gH/TDS. I've had great success with Melafix, aquarium salt, and clean water

Yes I see what you are saying about Epsom Salt as being a laxative.

Just bought a bottle of 475ml Melafix and aquarium salt. The bottle will be enough to treat 150 gallon for 1 week. I think I will leave her in the tank and treat the whole tank. This would be less stress on her than trying to put her in a smaller tank.

What is the recommended dosage for aquarium salt?

Added 1 cup of aquarium salt. Second day of Melafix. She looks okay but the eye looks pretty bad. Hope she can recover from this.

Patience bro, give it time. I generally use the same formula for aquarium salt that I do for Epsom salt. 1 cup per 100 gallons.

Thank you Barrett. I don't know what happened to her. Could be aggression, or maybe just accident she scraped herself to the sharp edge. As a precaution, I will remove all the lace rock and replace with round river rocks.

I used 1 cup of aquarium salt and Melafix dosed as recommended on the bottle for my tank size.

Yes, Melafix is good stuff. I would keep it handy for future use.

Agree with what everyone has been saying to this point. water changes are key. salt and melafix is a good treatment.

i have a silver dollar that one eye goes cloudy often. no other fish have same symptom. as long as i keep up on water changes it clears up, but if i go too long it creeps back in for some reason. melafix didnt help my silver dollar, but if clean water works, i stick with it.

Yes, clean water is the best medicine. Can't argue with that.
