  • Classroom tank

Here is our finished fish tank for my 1st grade classroom. Wanted to thank everyone who donated nearly all the supplies to get this thing finished. Kids are going crazy over it and will be great to use when we talk about plants and animals in the near future. soon will be adding shrimp and fish. Will keep updating as it progresses

Thats an awesome setup for school kids. The only thing that bothers me is the open top. I know how my two kids were/are. I hope your kids enjoy the aquarium, and enjoy learning all it has to teach them!

Looking good Adam, it turned out great. I like how you used the river pebbles to separate the substrates. Very clean

Thanks Austin. Still need a few more stones. Not quite happy with the plants and placement. Need to drain a bit of water and super glue the plants on the top to make it look more like a tree. Want to add some carpeting plants around the sides to make it look like grass. It's getting there though.

It's actually not moss. It's called subbwassertang. Some sort of micro algae. Looks cool. They are red cherry shrimp.

                        Common: Subwassertang
                        Scientific: Lomariopsis cf. lineata
AKA: Süßwassertang, Susswassertang, Round Pellia (incorrect)
Here is a decent site explaining what it is exactly

Update on the tank. That little patch of baby tears on the right has Ballooned into a jungle and spread all along the entire side of the tank.
