Yep, I've been lurking on koi phen myself for the last month to absorb as much as I can. Still look lost like a puppy on the freeway at this juncture though.
The pond will house a handful of goldfish ,and with its current size, maybe 5 koi at best along with plants if the koi don't Tear them up. Leaning toward adding a shower drain as I already one on hand with 4" pvc pipe plumb to a diy filter and from there a pump jettisons clean water to the waterfall back to the pond.
Whats your our set up look like? Love to see pics if ya got any.

I do not know if you have seen those rock in a backyard pond. They may look cool in some ponds in large parks, but for backyard pond, I would go with something smaller and just 2-3 large pieces for sitting or decorating. Also, for those big rock, you may need a very strong concrete collar to support them.
I am in North West on 249, if you need help, just holla at me.
Lone Star koi club will have a pond tour in May. I would like to see other ponds in Houston here to hear the pros and cons from owners.
