  • Just finished digging a pond where to find rocks?

Where can I find big rocks, plates, boulders to build a waterfall and edge my pond with? Anywhere I can collect or purchase them from? thanks,

Right now it's just a big hole in the ground. I ordered 2 billboard vinyl tarps online so they should be here this wk or early next. Ill put up some pics in a minute.

Anyone uses shower drain instead of the typical manufactured bottom drain? I'm new to koi but not to fishkkeping. Have both salt and fresh setups for quite some time now.

also, how much do rocks usually go for? Would like a general idea for boulders, big rocks, slates, etc.

            thanks!

At rock yards, most rock will go between 13-50 cents a pound, usually on the lower end. Much cheaper than any LFS

If you buy in pallets, it is somewhere $.10 to $.20/lb depend on what kind of rock you will buy. Check out Living Earth on Cutten RD if you are in NW side of town.

Also, I have seen several new built ponds, they all go with aerated manufactured bottom drains. That is something I would spend money for a good BD because if something goes wrong, it is a big hassle to fix/replace.

Here's my girl trying to lend a hand. This was our first day digging, it has gotten 3x since. Will post some more later tonight

Does anyone know approximately how much a mid sized Boulder weighs? Like 2 x2ft footprint.

How big is it going to be?

I measured earlier today roughly about 15x10x4 I'm looking to expand a tad further but a buried Comcast cable gotten in the way. Does anyone know if I could splice it , then add a connector and more cable to give me some more slack?

Naw dude my girl is a fraud. She gave up after 2 scoops in 😁 did most of the work myself with no hired help at all.

Picture re doesn't do it justice. It's a lot bigger if you were to see it in person. The mound in the background is where I'll install a waterfall. Probably going to add more dirt to make it more robust as it is on the small side at the moment.

will it be a typical koi pond or water garden pond with gold fish?
It looks like you are on a right track. have you decided on the filters yet?
