Dosing Systems for Planted Tanks

I'm really trying to take my hobby experience to another level with a fertilizer dosing system. Does anyone have success/ horror stories? What are your opinions?

I know co2 will make your plants grow great. But it can kill everything in the tank too. I've been thinking about doing co2. I have a couple of regulators and the tank. I started using root tabs and my plants took off. Not sure what is best but I'm all about the fish. More then the plants but like to try new thing in my tanks.

Ive never done co2, root tabs and dosing of excel is all I have really done. Excel doesn't seem to agree with all fish though. Ill be keeping an eye on this too.

How about dosing ferts?
