  • Price/where to buy holey rock?

I'm setting up a 55 gallon mbuna tank and would like to find some decent pieces of holey rock. Does anyone have any recommendations of places around town that would stock it? I'll probably end up getting some off of craigslist since it looks like it can be found for under $1/pound. I've read threads from a few years ago that it could be found at some landscaping places for under $.50/pound but those days may be gone. Last option would be lfs where it is way overpriced.

Best option is NEPCO in Stafford

Thanks. I found some cheap at a different landscaper but the quality wasn't great. I picked some up from another member at a pretty good price.

If you ever need holey rock let me know. I can go out and collect it. Pretty good looking stuff. I just cut a deal with ken. He might sell it to you. It is beyond awesome quality.

I have a nice 80 pound piece of holey rock. It is fresh from the hills. I have pressure washed it and it seem like there is still a little dirt in it. But it is an awesome rock with lots of holes. $100.00

Dimensions of the rock are 21 inches wide by 18 inches high by 9 inches deep. This would make an excellent center piece in a large aquarium.

            Thanks Reefling!

Those pics make the holes look small. Put something for size reference like a quarter or tennis ball. That rock is so big it makes the hole look small.

Here are some pics with reference quarters. These holes are pretty large. But I decided not to sell this rock after all. I am customizing a 100 gallon tank for peacocks and this rock will be perfect as a centerpiece.

                  Thanks

I figured you would be using that one. I was referring to the rest of the haul.

Ok, I will photograph and weigh and price the rest of it tomorrow.

                        Guys

I have cleaned and weighed the holey rock that I have. I will sell any of these rocks for $1.00 per pound.

                        Thanks

                          Price/where to buy holey rock?

Go by nepco or Wayne's landscape. 0.12 a lb and nice stuff.

Holey Rock won't be that cheap. It'll be in the 50-75 cents per pound range.

That's exactly how cheap it is at Wayne's landscape. It's what I paid for mine when I bought it for my aquarium.
