  • L46 Surprise

Man.. i haven't posted here in a while. But this has gotten me all excited...

After returning from 2 weeks of business travel, i decided to catch up on my water changes.
While siphoning around the caves of my L46 tank, i noticed a flake of crud get sucked up the python and was clinging to the wall of the tube. Didn't really pay attention to it until i noticed the flake shimmy itself to the opposite wall of the tube.

As i realized what what was happening, my heart skipped a beat as i quickly reached for the shut-off valve on the python and frantically searched through 50 feet of python tubing for any more specks. Didn't find any more in the python, but i did pull these 8 little suckers out of the tank.

    Finally after 5 years!!!!

                Another surprise!
Today i pulled out another 5 from another clutch.
I found 3 of them hanging out just outside an occupied cave. I guess the male must have kicked them out.
There were two more inside the cave with the male, so i took the risk and went ahead and removed them as well. This batch still a little bit of their egg sac remaining.. so hopefully i didn't remove them too soon.
All of them are now living in my floating fry trap.

that brings the total to 12 13 fry.

                            Update:
3.5 Months later, i still have 7 survivors of the original 13.
They are now just about the length of the diameter of a quarter.
                            No further batches of fry.
